Fall Tablescape with DIY Candle Apples

Apple Crisp… Apple Cider… Caramel Apple Latte… But how about “Candle Apples”.

I shared a sneak peak of my new DIY Candle Apple creation on Instagram over the weekend and couldn’t wait to share my full tablescape. I’ve teamed up with nine other amazing and talented bloggers to bring you a Fresh Fall Tablescapes Blog Hop.  In our first post, we’ll be providing you with some inspiration and showcasing our fall tables in all their festive, autumn glory.

I wanted to create something different and unique, but also easy to do and inexpensive this season.  Whether you’re having a huge family gathering for Thanksgiving or an intimate dinner with some friends and you’re looking to “wow” them, this is the table for you!

The candle apple project is extremely easy and inexpensive.  I simply purchased a few honeycrisp apples from the food store, or you can use any apples you’ve picked from a farm.  Scoop out the top of the apple just large enough to fit a votive candle inside.  Slip in the candle and light, and voila you have a cozy, intimate and festive table accessory.  And the best part is you can still eat the apples the next day so they don’t go to waste.

My style lately has been rustic chic or farm chic, so I purchased tree slice wood chargers from Home Goods and matching coasters for the apples to sit on.  To add a little glam to the table I bought gold and white plates and bowls and damask style linens with grey and gold in them.  The centerpiece is also a gold pumpkin vase and added some fresh mum flowers in white and multi color.  To give the table some natural elements I bought scented pine cones, although finding them outdoors would be just as good, and placed them inside the bowl.  I like the aroma the scented pine cones bring to the room.  I also sprinkled some leaves, acorns and mini pine cones around the table.

I had an old journal from an antique store that I purchased many years ago and the paper inside is very old & wrinkled.  I thought it would be perfect to cut up some small pieces and use that as the Guest markers, sticking them inside the scales of the pine cone.  Adding a few leaves in the bowl and onto the charger, the table is truly a perfect way to bring nature and elegance to your table.

Since I live in an apartment I don’t have a ton of space so my table is small.  Therefore, when I decorate I can’t go too big or too long with the accessories.  I have to admit it’s always a challenge to come up with ways to give the table a bold, dramatic statement with such a small work space.  Adding the small chargers, apple project, natural elements,  floral centerpiece and all four chargers and plate settings to a small table in this small, compact way shows it can be done and in a beautiful way.  You can still think big with a small space.  I hope you can find some inspiration from my tablescape whether you live in small apartment or large house.  And feel free to share your pictures with me, especially if you give the Candle Apple DIY project a try!  Happy Decorating!
